About Taekwondo Jidokwan
Taekwondo Ji Do Kwan Introduction
The picture shown left is the Taekwondo Jidokwan symbol and has much significance for the Jidokwan practitioner. Flowers in general signify peace, love, nobility and happiness. Eight flower pedals have great meaning as well. The Jidokwan Spirit of eight manners of justice are: See Rightly, Feel Rightly, Think Rightly, Speak Rightly, Command Rightly, Serve Rightly, Have Ability, and Conduct with Justice. Also, the central figure - a roly-poly - signifies persistence. There is a saying, "Seven times down, eight times up." This spirit of standing upright in all tribulations is very strong in the Jidokwan community. Circles symbolize universe, sun, earth, nation, kwan, self.
Taekwondo Jidokwan is the tradition that is practiced at Won Park Institute of Taekwondo. Taekwondo Jidokwan supports Kukkiwon and the World Taekwondo Federation through various activities. Many champion martial artists have come out of Jidokwan. Jidokwan practitioners are known for their positive approach to life. This kwan has a rich History and a unique Philosophy. Grandmaster Park's teacher, Grandmaster Hyong Chong Park (shown right) was part of the first generation of Jidokwan martial artists. The Won Park Institute of Taekwondo is proud to be a part of this great heritage, and Grandmaster Park remains active in the Jidokwan community. In fact, he recently attended the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Taekwondo Jidokwan in March, 2006. Please explore this fine tradition further.
